Pictures of Angola
During the 1990's, the slums in Luanda expanded quickly and soon, you merely
had to drive a few kilometers from the outskirts of the slum to reach dense
forrests like this. The photos were taken during a run that was arranged there,
and I remember well that me, my father and one other Norwegian man lost our way
and soon had no idea where to go among the banana trees in the quite dense forrest.
As was customary we gathered in a large circle and sang some songs was wasted
time after the run, and I also remember that a huge cluster of Angolans came to
watch us. After all, though European travellers often understand very little of
the African way of life, they tend to understand equally little of ours.
