Pictures of Angola

From the Shipwreck Beach, this is me in front of a stranded ship. The beach is beautiful and, according to various sources, a former well-known surfing beach (we did body-surfing here, and that was excellent). According to other sources, the ships were abandoned and towed out of the Luanda harbour to clear some space. With time, the anchors couldnot hold the ships and they drifted on land. Today, there are somewhere between 10 and 20 ships on the beach, all stranded and none, if they have ever been in working condition, will float today.

Notice the name of this ship (Karl Marx, the funder of Communist ideology). Doesn't this picture illustrate the outcome of the Cold War? The worn down, loosing, communism in the background and the much better off, smaller yet stronger, capitalism in the foreground...
