The picture shows the Angolan slave museum - Morro de Cruz - one of the places
right outside Luanda all visitors to Angola should visit. Myself, I visited it
once in 2000. In 2002/03 it was being restored. Once you have been through the
museum and seen the different artefacts, you will find that the outside has
quite a view of the sea.

The house was built in the 18th century as the "Chapel Morro da Cury," (it is
no longer a chapel) and was where the slaves were baptized before leaving
Angola. After the Angolans had been loaded onto ships, most were sent to Brazil,
but a few ended in other countries in Southern America and some even in North
America. Finally, in 1836, slave trade was abolished and in 1977, the slavery
museum was installed in this building to remember one of the darker sides to
history.
