History & Mission Statement
A prerunner to this website was started in 2001 or 2002, I am not sure which, while I was still in Angola. It was then a website on Angola written in Norwegian. As I left Angola in 2003, I started this website, which also included a section on Anarchism. As time has passed, the website has expanded biologically to represent my different interests - a newsletter (now discontinued), the library, a blog, a list of reviews and commentaries (Library 2.0) and many subsections have been added. The files, folders, scripts and other details that make up the website becomes severely untidy as time passes and twice - once in 2004 and once during the summer of 2006 the website has been completely relauched. These include not only dramatic changes in design, but also improved integration and handling of new sections and technologies (most recently, the blog and the site-search).

When the site was launched in 2003 I was fourteen years old and my grasp of the world at large as well as the subjects this website is about has changed - my interest in anarchism, for example, has become philosophical whereas it once was historical - and so has my intentions with this website. The Angola section is primarily intended to give an overview of Angolan history so that the current situation can better be understood.

Further, the anarchism section is more a collection of political articles than an informative site about political anarchism. My primary aim with the anarchism section is to consider the modern world from a radically different viewpoint - and with significantly different values - from normal media and analysts. Similarily, the library and blog contains my notes and works that are not directly related to the other subjects of the website and thus become showcases for the full extent of my intellectual abilities - the library contains considered works and the blog my more spontaneous outbursts. Both are, however, affected by my interest in anarchism, just like my general understanding of society is.

Original Documents
In some indexes you will find a small Microsoft Word- or Adobe icon. If you have the appropriate applications installed and a decent bandwith, clicking on this will let you download the original files. These contain the original illustrations as well as complete references and bibliographies where appropriate as well as much better opportunities for prinitng.

Examples of this can, for example, be found in the Library.

Quotes
The random-quote generator contains my collection of quotes; quotes that I have noted down as I come across them in my daily life. My sources of quotes are many and include books, magazines, encyclopaedias, the web, historical documents and people I know and speak to. I have tried to omit the most well-known quotes and the most cited people, since most of you already know these; some quotes have become clichés and others are very simplistic. Also, some quotes and referenecs are included that make little or no sense when interpreted out of their rightful context, here they are cited with at least an indication of this context. The second limit to my collection of quotes is that most of them are cited from or cited in texts or works I have read (or written). Therefore I know the context of these quotes and can understand them better. I have included the time, place or something else to hint of the context with the quotes where I feel that is needed. Overall, however, I have never actually spent time looking for quotes, just noted them down as I stumble over them.

I have no restrictions to the themes of the quotes, though I prefer quotes related to the themes of this website. Some of the quotes, however, are about other areas of knowledge that interest me. The most frequent themes, I am fairly sure, are politics (in a very wide sense), freedom, reality and life and Angola or Africa in general.

Notice that the quotes are better suited as an inspiration for thinking than as a source of simple or immediate knowledge. These quotes require a minute or two of consideration and I ask you as my visitor to grant them this time - it will make you a better person. Myself, I find some element of applicable and non-exclusive truth or wisdom in each quote.

Most of all, however, I hope you will enjoy these quotes and that they will enhance your experience of my website.

Calendar
The calendar shows historic events that happened on the current date, as well as how long it is since they happened. The calendar is intended to give a new perspective to history as well as entertain the visitors. Due to the extreme amounts of research required to fill each date, some dates are still blank. These blanks are being filled out as effectively as possible.

Search
The site-search uses Google Custom Search search technology to search all files on the Bjornthegreat.com server. To search for a specific word or term, type it into the search box on any page and press enter. You can use Boolean expressions or place a normal, simple search.

There are two search boxes on all pages affiliated with the blog, one which searches only through the blog archive as well as the standard seachbox.

The searchboxes are located in the left hand margin of every page.

B - News
